Insainity is a sane response to an insane world

Source: topshop.com

I'm hopelessly charmed by quirky, unusual pieces like these. I adore the galaxy vest - but the price... not so adorable. It's such an epic design it's hard not to be hypnotised! I think my universe now in fact revolves around getting this vest, tehe.
Ohhh how it pains me to say this, but the shorts... have SOLD OUT! *gasp*
The second I saw them I thought of the Marina & the Diamonds gig I'm going to in a few months - they had the whole "Hollywood infected your brain" vibe - which was spot on because the other day I saw a photo of Marina herself wearing these shorts! I'm not in any way starstruck, but honestly, it's like we share a brain ;)

I've also wanted a Polaroid camera since like forever (ok, since Christmas), but last night I discovered this amazing application called the 'Poladroid Project' which can turn photos on your computer into the format of a polaroid. Here's a few of my faves that I Poladroid-ed...

There's something I love about polaroids... maybe it's their instancy - because a photo really is capturing a moment, and even when the image in your mind starts to fade, you still have the photos to remind you. And there's so much more to it than just an image, there's always a story behind it, because a photo can document emotions as well as memories; what it means to be alive, real and infinite.
Even forced and staged photography can say a lot about a person - it's a statement to the world that they exist, indivisible proof that long after they're gone they can stay alive.
Looking through the lens, there's so much potential when building an image. It's the same world, that we live in, but we all see it differently, we can create the best out of the worst and use a photograph as evidence of what real beauty means. Because life is, and forever should be; beautiful, chaotic, spontaneous and impossibly strange! ...Yeah, if you haven't guessed by now, I love photography... and not to be too forward, but I think photography kinda loves me too ;) tehehe.

TTFN you beautiful people!

(p.s. if any of you read this entire post I shall love you forever because it's ridiculously long, and you're a total hero for getting through it! ;)

...and then my donkey fell down your waffle hole.

I went to see Shrek 4 today... t'was alright. To be honest I kinda lost interest after the second one, but going to the cinema is always fun.
Popcorn + Ben & Jerry's ice cream = yummmm ;)
Ooh but movie you've all got to see is Toy Story 3 - it doesn't matter how old you are, trust me, it's ah-mazing! Tehe, I'm still a child at heart... even though in two months I am officially an adult! Eeeek!

Anywhoo, this is what I wore today... I haven't done an outfit-related post in a while so I felt like I had to briefly reassure you guys that I have, in actual fact, been wearing clothes these past few weeks, and I haven't moved to some sort of nudist camp... I know, I'm disappointed too, but like ta-dah!

* Blazer - Debenhams
* Chiffon Blouse - H&M
* Cut-off Levi's - COW Vintage
* Jewellery - Miss Selfridge

Darling, I don't know how to tell you this but there's a Chinese family in our bathroom

I thought I'd enrich you guys with some culture (though if you've been on Google at all today you may have noticed anyway, but... it's Tchaikovsky's birthday! And who is this person I hear you ask? Well my friends, he is a Russian composer, or was actually, he's dead now... but even ghosties should have birthdays, especially the famous ones ;)

I had my art exam today. Now it seems like the end of an era because me and my friends will most likely get split up next term. Boo hoo. But on the plus side we get a whole month without having to think about art! Whoopdedoo. No sarcasm intended. Especially after only getting five hours sleep last night, or should I say this morning?? As I was up until 2:30am finishing (or rather starting) my final piece. Which tbh should have been done ages ago, but I feel my most motivated when I leave things to the last minute, that's actually how some of my best work's produced. My teachers hate this, my friends think its funny, whereas I think it's ... pleh. That's right folks, the girl who incessantly uses long words to make herself seem more intelligent is lost for words. Trust me, this is very rare. I'll blame it on sleep deprivation.

This is what I did for my exam. Acrylic on calico canvas. The theme was chinese new year.

'Us' by Regina Spektor is a sweet song. Youtube it if you fancy, or not, I won't force you. All be it well-timed, but the only reason I thought of this is because it's on the titles of (500) days of Summer, which I'm currently watching. I've loved it since I first saw it and the adornment hasn't worn off since. Hence the title of my blog post, which has instantly become one of my favourite movie quotes.

It's funny to watch the extras in movies. The people in the background who's names never appear in the credits. When I was younger I wanted to be an extra in Harry Potter. I'd go for a wander round Hogwarts, master a few spells and count how many mice were hiding in Hagrid's beard. But then again I was young, and my ideal career would change every day. From space cadet to zoologist, journalist to busker... I'm sure somwhere along the way I planned to be queen, though that was decided when I was about seven and I was already busy enough ruling over my imaginary kingdom of teddies and teacups. I wouldn't have had the time, let alone the patience to safegaurd England alongside safegaurding my teddies from my baby brother.

Well, that's enough rambling from me, maybe tomorrow I'll do a fashion-orientated post, but we'll see. 'Til then my darling readers, I bid thee farwell... Oooh I'm so posh.

I want a pet dragon!

I don't have a vast collection of mythical creature photography - so this photo of a dragon at chinese new year will have to do :)

I saw the movie "How to train your dragon" today, and because it's a kids film I wasn't expecting to like it, but honestly, it wasn't too bad.

So, I've come to the conclusion that having a pet dragon would be rather cool, or hot actually... you know, cuz they breathe fire

(...bad, bad, baaaad joke, I know)

It would deffinately save on bus faire because I could just fly everywhere - soaring through the skys whilst the people below grind their teeth through the rush hour traffic.
There's an abandoned men's club behind our house so I could keep Sydney there (yes, I shall name my dragon Sydney, and he shall be mine) and there's a park nearby where we could play frisbee during those warm summer evenings.
He could feast on the pigeons which keep falling down our chimney (it's rather haunting having to listen to them die but once they've fallen in, sadly, there's no way out.... hmmm, we should really get that seen to).

Now for the negatives...
If he ever got sick we couldn't take him to the vets without the fear that one look at a needle and he'll roast the vet and gobble him whole. He could even turn rogue and eat me, "baaaad Sydney, very naughty dragon". He could accidentally set the men's club on fire and become a public menace and then we'd get exiled and have to join a travelling circus - which might not be so bad... but I'd miss my home luxuries too much.

So chances of getting a dragon don't look good. Maybe I'll get a lizard instead....

Excuse the sarcasm deary

This week I've been raving to...
Ellie Goulding's
CD 'Lights', which I bought last week, which I have not stopped listening to! I love her all her songs, but the one going through my head most atm is 'Wish I Stayed' :)

Feeling Creative

I'm very proud of myself lately- seeing as I 'lack motivation' with my artwork it's been one of those rare ocassions where I actually managed to focus and make a mask for my festivals project! It took me ages but it was soooo worth it :)
I could only upload the pic of the motif, but anyway - ta-dah!

Filmaker Extrodinaire
In media we've been working in small groups to make a short horror movie.
We were quite panicked as we had to reshoot part of our film last week, but we've finished editing and now we're just syncing the music and adding the title sequence, then voila!

Here's a sneakie peak of our future blockbuster ;).....

The real thing's not in black and white, but I think the photos look spookier that way.

We were meant to have eerie, children's laughter at one point but everytime I hear it the laughter reminds me of the sun baby from teletubbies (c'mon, you know you used to watch it!) and suddenly I'm drawn back to the days when teletubbies were cool (face it dear, they were never 'cool'... now pokemon - they were super cool! It's not like you could find and collect a thousand different species of teletubbie...)

I'm as mad as a hatter
Ooooh, I saw the Alice in Wonderland movie at the weekend, in 3D!
It was amaziiiiing! Johnny Depp is a total legend, although I didn't quite get his on/off scottish accent, but I guess it just added depth to the character.
I'm still a little hyper because we went to pizza hut afterwards and we made the epic discovery that toffee popcorn + ice-cream = yummm!
