The face that you wish was a ghost

Sometimes I wonder if I even have a style or if I just dress based on my mood. I'm not even sure how much I like this outfit anymore, but it's always fun experimenting, right? The leather-look backpack is a recent purchase, along with the tights and sparkly black nail polish (all from topshop). I haven't had a backpack for absolutely ages, and now I remember why - it's near impossible finding things at short notice and I'm always on edge that I'm an easy target for passing pickpockets. There's also the bizarre flashback I get from simply hearing the word 'backpack' - in my first year of secondary school I was known for sporting a giant backpack that made me look like a teenage mutant ninja turtle - and as cool as that sounds, it wasn't. But backpacks do have their benefits or course; they hold a surprising amount of stuff and they come with nifty little zip pockets (which come in so handy, especially when they don't work -_-) But the thing I really like about this backpack is the crackled leatherette texture; I find it gives off a slightly aged / distressed edge that I can't help but love. I know it's probably not to every one's taste but my mind's reeling now with all sorts of quirky styling ideas...

Have you made any random purchases lately?

We compliment each other like colours.

Really casual outfit today but I thought I might as well post it as I haven't shared an outfit in quite a while... I seem to be building up a little collection of American Apparel hoodies now, s'pose I wear this crimson one the most though.
I know most people don't exactly see hoodies as "high-fashion" but I think no matter what it's important to feel comfortable in what you wear, especially in this pathetic excuse for an English summer - it's cosy clothes ftw!

I'm off to the hairdressers later on this week. I have something in mind but I'm a little apprehensive how it's gona turn out. I've always been hopeless with making decisions and actually sticking to them, so I'm still unsure if I'm gona go through with it or not, but ah well we shall see mes amis...

The devil makes us sin, but we like it when we're spinning.

Why hello there m'dears.
Finally got round to doing another outfit post... I'm wearing a mass of layers, but I wanted to show you my midi skirt in all it's accordion pleated loveliness. The fabric has a subtle sheer quality, which looks a bit like the inside of a transparent mushroom, mmmm mushrooms.

Oh I've got some absolutely fantastic news to share with you - I'm off to New York tomorrow! I've never been to America before and I'm soo excited! We're leaving for the airport at 2am and I'm gona be soo jet lagged but I'll probably be bouncing around the whole time ranting on about this and that, ooh I can't wait... I'm going to be like a hardcore tourist; "I LOVE NY" tee shirt, flag shorts, giant foam finger and liberty crown at the ready, tehe.

Watch out America the maverick's on her way... (ok did you really just refer to yourself as 'the maverick'?? Wow Spence, you just can't get any cooler O_o)

Black & White.

What I'm Wearing; Bowler hat - H&M . . . Peter Pan collar dress - topshop . . . Lace crop top - New Look . . . Tulle tutu - Clothes Show Live . . . Black Satchel - Next . . . Grey socks - Peacocks

Hello there blogosphere...

Well I've had an eventful day; after staying up until 6am this morning (completing my art coursework 'cuz the dreaded deadline was today) I am now sat in a zombie-like state, staring at the TV, wondering when (if ever) my powers of telepathy will surface and spare me those energy-draining 3 steps from the sofa to the remote... oh it's just tragic, really. I've had a grand total of 3.5 hrs sleep yet I've been in a surprisingly good mood all day, thanks to the wonders of caffeine I guess.

I have no clue when I took these outfit photos to be honest, but they've been sat in my drafts folder for a while and I thought it would be a shame not to post them, who doesn't love a bit of lace and a good old' peter pan collar after all?

Alrighty then I'm off to catch some much needed zzz's, 'til next time lovelies ;)

Cranberry & Navy

What I'm Wearing; Cranberry Jumper - thrifted . . . Navy blazer - Debenhams (sale!) . . . Scrabble letter necklace - gift . . . Carousel necklace - Accessorize . . . Clock necklace - topshop . . . Cream scarf - Zara.

This was yesterdays outfit but I'm such a scatterbrain I forgot post it in time... along with my fave necklaces at the moment, which I decided to wear all at once, 'cuz I'm far too fickle to choose just one, tehe.

I'm off to a Mad Hatters Tea Party this afternoon. Now as we all know (or in my case, didn't know until earlier this week) it is customary at such an event, to wear your most outlandishly awesome hat, so I'll be wearing my vintage clock hat, which (other than my beloved bowler hat) is the most epic hat I own. I've also got a surprise for the birthday girl, which involves eating a mouse in a teapot... I bet you're all horrified now, but I don't want to ruin the surprise, as much as I don't want you to think I eat mice, so I might as well tell you... we've made her a cake, shaped like a teapot, with a little sugar mouse peeping his head out (oh and by "we've" I mean my mum did everything whilst I 'supervised' ;) ... yep, it was a real team effort *cough cough*

There's a ghost in this house, and when he sings it sounds just like you.

I was delighted to find my awesome new skirt had arrived in the mail the other day. I'd been craving this beauty for quite a while but talked myself out of it countless times due to the self-proclaimed 'Grand Sequin Debacle'. I'm not crazy enough to count each sequin individually (I lost count after about 250... ok so I am a little crazy... and currently facing the sequin equivalent of snow blindness) but the absolute second one of those little sequins drops off will mark the beginning of the end (not just of the skirt, but also of my so-called life).
So why did I buy it regardless? Well when the priced dropped considerably in the sales and the only size left in stock was mine, so it felt like fate was compelling demanding me to buy that skirt! And I didn't want to upset fate now, did I??
Although I was a little surprised by it's appearance; on the website it was a sort of lilac grey with silver sequins, which on closer inspection looks more like elephant grey with tarnished gold and grey sequins, but whatever, it's still incredible.

Thanks for all the lovely comments on my last post btw. I won't be replying to them straight away because all my cwk deadlines are this month, the first of which is coming up this week so I've really gota focus, sorry, I'll try to write back soon! Until then, have an amazing week!

When we collide we lose ourselves.

Maroon Dress - Topshop . . . Black Cardigan - H&M . . . Blue Blazer - Debenhams . . . Cream Shirt + Tapestry Bag - thrifted.

Hah, I think I look a bit like an air-hostess in this outfit, ahh well that's my tragic attempt at sophistication over then... please excuse my cliche 'panic posing' too. When the self timer starts flashing I'm like a deer in headlights - pretty much stunned and clueless.
I bought that dress last weekend; the colour was irresistible, and the simple cut makes me feel rather reminiscent of Holly Golightly's little black number in "Breakfast at Tiffany's", oh how I love that film...

Speaking of filming, Wednesday's video shoot went well, it was freezing but I think we've got all the footage we need. Argh, I've got so much coursework to do over Christmas it's unbelievable! But I suppose whilst every one's stressing about their January exams I'll be locked up in the library lumbered with a ridiculous pile of essays and sketchbooks to complete. I've also got to compose a portfolio for an interview I'm yet to apply for, not because I'm incredibly organised, the total opposite in fact. All other people I'm aware of applying for this course handed in their application's weeks ago and are now calmly awaiting their interviews. The longer I leave this the riskier it gets, but worse case scenario I end up with a gap year. I like to imagine I'd travel and have wild adventures and end up in Swedish tea rooms with bizarre men named Sven and go cliff diving and eat snails, as all the best nomads do... hah, if my imaginary gap year was made into a TV show I like to think it'd be something like "An Idiot Abroad" crossed with "Skins". Oh yessss, I assume you'd all be watching intently? Or not. Most of the shots would just be me harassing strangers, asking random (all be it vaguely inappropriate) questions, and basically making a total idiot out of myself.... so no different from usual then.

(p.s. sorry about not being able to comment on my last post, I turned the comments off by mistake but thanks so much for your lovely messages, you're all adorable! ;) Truth is I've been feeling a little unconfident about my blog recently, I wish I had time to do more outfit posts but my style's all over the place so you're not missing out on much, I've got a few other posts ready in my drafts folder so brace yourselves for whatever randomness makes 'the final cut'... I swear I agonise over what to post or what to say waaaay too much, eurgh I really gota snap outa this...)

(p.p.s you're totally epic if you got through all of that, sorry that I've babbled so much but my mind's in a minor state of chaos.)

Ciao ciao.

I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions.

My mum got me this wolf hat a few days ago as an early Christmas present. The label attached to it made me laugh, it described my epic piece of head wear as "elegant, abstract and sophisticated"... hmmm sure, though that's not exactly how I felt whilst wearing it, but hey I think we can agree it's pretty awesome...

I've been listening to 'The xx' lately and I really rather love their "moody-indie-soul" vibe, I've asked for their album for Christmas, along with a few other albums and films like "The Lovely Bones" and "Where the Wild Things Are". There's a zillion other little things I've jotted down on my list to Santa (realistic and unrealistic... pfft, like I'm ever gona get that gorgeous Mandy Coon bunny bag) I guess I'm kinda obsessed with animal-related fashion accessories lately, I might do a post on it if I can gather enough inspiration, but for now I'll leave you with a wonderfully mellow melody from The xx...

Bear with me for a moment.

I made this skirt a few months ago from some faux velvet I bought from a market stall. Out of all my DIY's it's probably the most successful 'cuz I wear it quite a lot of the time. I love the textured appearance, and the colour, which sortof reminds me of purple quality street wrappers. Ooh and speaking of chocolate, I got to open the first window of my advent calendar this morning! It shouldn't be that exciting, but I still feel like a little kid at heart ;)

College is closed (again) today because of the snow, which means I'll be spending the rest of my Wednesday browsing blogs, drinking hot chocolate, and watching a Gossip Girl box set. Ahh, bliss.

Hey there, teddy bear

As I mentioned in Friday's post I'm going to a masquerade ball in two weeks. I'm really excited because I've absolutely always wanted to go to one! In anticipation I took some photos of the dress I'm going to wear because I don't think I'll have time on the night of the ball... ehh, I uploaded the first photo twice because I couldn't make up my mind whether I preferred it with the glittery light effect or not... Which do you prefer?

This dress makes me feel magical. It's strange how easy it is to attach emotions and memories to an article of clothing. I still have items in my wardrobe that I don't wear anymore because nostalgic sentiment overpowers me from giving them away. It's not that I'm simply hoarding clutter because I can't let go, but you never know, maybe in years to come the everyday fashion items we store in our wardrobes could become the new definition of vintage, the stand out pieces to define a generation... Ahh but for now I'm going to enjoy my dress and all the magical sentiment I've imagined for it.

TTFN lovelies ;)

Just don't let me disappear

I love the scalloped lace sides of these tights, they really are lovely but I'm terrified of ripping them. I got them from Topshop earlier in the year but they're not in stock any more so when they get laddered I'm gona be really sad.

I'm watching the film 'This Is England' at the moment. Some of the scenes were shot near to where I live, so every time I recognize somewhere I let out a smug squeal of surprise... that was the peak of excitement for my day really. And now I'm debating in my head whether it's possible to be smug and surprised at the same time, hmmm, yeah, wow my weekend's been pretty boring...

Hope you all have a fab week!

Queen of the rebel spark

Next time I feel insecure about the way people see me, you can quote me on this;
"I'd much rather be infamous than invisible".

Mehhh... I'm not sure about the shorts with this outfit, but it's just something I threw on and decided to photograph whilst the weather was half decent. I felt too nervous (& too cold) to wear them to college, so I switched the shorts for a black skirt and the pumps for my 'badass' boots, haha.

I went to the doctors this week and apparently I have "labyrinthitis" ... I swear, it's probably the coolest name for an illness I've ever had the adverse fortune to have. It's nothing too serious; it's basically an inner ear infection that's making me tired, dizzy, unbalanced, and even though I'm awake it feels like I'm still dreaming.
I googled the symptoms and one of them said it's like having "the constant feeling of being drunk" ...but without the hangover, like whoohoo!

It took me too long to think of a title so this one's gona have to do

What I'm Wearing; Shirt - Thrifted (£2.85), Vintage Levi Shorts - COW, Blazer - Debenhams sale (£15), Bowler hat - H&M, Brogues - Peacocks, Black ribbon - lying around the house, Badge - from a random jewellery shop (free!)

If you're wondering why the badge was free it wasn't because I used a cheeky five-fingered-discount, but because I bought a load of broken jewellery (for my college art project) and the woman behind the til was so grateful she let me have a set of faux military badges for free. Ah-woo-hoo!
Sorry for my moody expression in the last shot... and my daft posing in general, tehe. When the self timer starts flashing my brain fizzles out from normality, the realms of creativity seem to implode, leaving nothing but a kooky impulse pose and a dazed pout. So ermm, tah-dah!

I'm off to a pre-halloween sleepover soon - have a spook-tastic weekend everyone! ;)

Just be glad you're not a turnip

This is my 'contemplating life' face aka. the gorm out... Sometimes my feels like a mundane replay of a cheesy teen sitcom, and what is my mothers advice to remedy this? "Just be glad you're not a turnip."
I love how she can make my most complicated musings suddenly unravel into something so simple and ridiculously whimsical.

What I'm Wearing; Lace tunic - topshop, Leather jacket + Bowler hat + Bat wing cardigan - H&M, Shorts - Dorothy's, Badass boots - New Look.

I went down to the woods with my tripod today, timer at the ready, and took some pretty radical shots of myself 'levitating'... haha, I'm doing a topic on staged photography at college and it's turning out to be quite a challenge, but my Photoshop skills are improving, so all's well that ends well I guess... I don't think I'll post the levitation shots on here, but I might upload a few of the other random snaps at a later date.

Hope you're all having a superb week my super-supreme readers!
